External Insulation Specialists Laois
House wrapping, or external wall insulation as it’s also known, is one of the best things you can do for an older or solid walled property in Laois. By covering the outside of your home in a solid, continuous layer of insulation, we get rid of cold bridging and heat loss through bare walls, seriously improve the building’s energy efficiency, and give the exterior a clean, modern and fully weatherproof finish all at the same time.
It’s a brilliant option for homes that aren’t suited to cavity insulation or that could simply do with a fresh new look.
When we wrap a house in Laois we mechanically fix and bond insulation boards across the full external face of the wall. We use either EPS (expanded polystyrene) or, where a bit of extra strength and moisture resistance is needed, XPS (extruded polystyrene).
On top of those boards we put down a reinforced base coat with an embedded fibreglass mesh, which creates a tough surface that won’t crack, and then we finish the whole elevation in a through coloured silicone render. Silicone render is breathable, self cleaning and built to last, so the finish keeps looking great and stands up to whatever the weather throws at it for years to come.
All the finer details around windows, doors, sills and roof lines are finished to a really high standard, so the completed home looks great and is properly protected too.
